College Round-Up... By the Numbers
Here is a look at the numbers some Terrier alumni are putting up so far this season on the US college front.
In Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association conference play the Adrian Bulldogs with C Dylan Johnson and RHP Andrew Giorno are 11-0. Dylan is hitting .294.
SR infielder Grant Okawa has 4 homers, 12 RBI and is hitting an impressive .344 for the University of Jamestown Jimmies. The Jimmies are 9-5 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play and 23-12 overall.
In the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Cornerstone University is 8-2. Daniel Freeman continues to shine offensively with 16 hits, 9 RBI and a .314 average. Daniel is 8 for his last 18.
C Joe Tevlin leads the Niagara Purple Eagles with a .417 average. He has 10 hits and 4 RBI. The Purple Eagles are 10-6 in the MAAC.
RHP Ben Abram of the Oklahoma Sooners has 20 strike outs in 19.1 IP. Opponents are hitting just .241 off Ben. The Sooners are a disappointing 2-6 in the BIG 12.
Freshman lefty Campbell Ellis has a 3.75 ERA for Virginia Commonwealth University. The Rams are 16-13.
Catcher Cristian Forgione's 3 run homer to right center field spurred the St. Lawrence University Saints to a 17-6 victory over Clarkson this past weekend. Prior to his home run Cristian also played a key role defensively with a strike 'em out, throw 'em out inning ending double play.
Freshman infielder Zach Marriott of the Hendrix Warriors is hitting .231, has scored 11 times and has swiped 4 bases. The Warriors are having a rough year with a 9-18 record.
AJ Karosas of the ECC Kats has a lofty .429 avg/ .568 obp/ .563 SLG slash line. Erie Community College is 8-8.
The Stony Brook Seawolves are an impressive 11-1 in America East Conference play. They have won 10 of 11 and Sam Turcotte is the ace of the pitching staff. In his most recent outing Sam fired a complete game, 6-2 Stony Brook victory over UMass- Lowell. Sam sports a 1.87 ERA and a .97 WHIP. He leads the team with 43.1 IP and has 45 strike outs. Opponents are hitting just .191 off Turcotte.
