16s A Perfect 12-0

The 16u Terriers took both ends of their DH Saturday from the London Badgers. 


Game one was a 10-0 win, while game two went in the books as a 7-2 victory.

 

Lefty Rhys Montgomery struck out five and did not walk a hitter through five innings of work. 

The game was complete after five with the ten run mercy rule in effect. 

 

The Terriers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second when Julian Russell rocketed a lead off double to left, advanced to third on a ground out then scored on Kawshik Murali's RBI triple that he pounded to left. 

Kawshik scored later in the inning on Andrius Jurenas's bullet RBI single that went over the Badger  shortstop's head.

 

The Terriers offense put the game away in the bottom of the fourth when Isaac Sinning, Ethan Magloughlin, Ethan Cane, Andrius Jurenas and Tyson Gomm all crossed. ‎7-0 Terriers. 

 

The mercy rule was enforced in the bottom of the‎ fifth with three more Terrier runs.

Julian Russell punched a lead off single up the middle‎ and scored on a Quenton Race RBI double off the wall in right field. 

Ethan Cane ended the game with a two RBI single to left that scored Jurenas and Race. 

 

Jurenas got the ball in game two and he would fire a complete game, striking out six and walking just two. The Badger's scattered five hits.

 

Tyson Gomm got the Terriers going in their half of the first after he walked, stole second and scored on Julian Russell's RBI single. 

Russell crossed later in the inning on a fielders choice. 2-0 Terriers.

 

The Terriers plated two more runs in the third on RBI singles by Ethan Magloughlin and Quenton race. Gomm and Russell scored on those hits.

 

The Terriers rounded out the scoring with two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. 

 

Other game highlights included three slick double plays by middle infielders Julian Russell and Evan Farrell.
